Hello! I’m Abbey: an artist, a tomboy, but also kind of a homemaker of sorts. I make art and write to make sense of the world around me. I feel most like my true self when I’m holding a pen or a paintbrush.
I started my journey as an artist when I was a kid. I’d lock myself in my bedroom for entire days, furiously drawing and pretending and creating a world for myself to hide away in.
I made the mistake of not honing in on my artistic style when I was younger. I was under the impression that if I couldn’t create photorealistic versions of the world around me, my artistic skill wasn’t valid. I’ve always leaned into and gravitated toward abstract art but never valued my own skills as something other than a hobby.
I journeyed into makeup artistry for a few years, and to this day it’s one of my favorite and most satisfying artistic release, but once I bought a house… it was game over. Nowadays, you can find me nestled in my brightly-muraled home, dreaming of new ways to bring new colors into our space.
I have never been a person defined by a career or an education; rather, I prefer to be a person defined by their ability to create a safe place for others to belong. That’s what I’m hoping to do on this blog, in my home, and in my life.
Thank you for coming along on this journey with me.
